07/10 OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

The 7th of OCTOBER is the Feast of OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY which has led to the whole month of October being especially dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary.

The Rosary is a powerful prayer with a history of miracles and the Church encourages us to pray the Rosary throughout the months of October and May. The feast was originally called 'Our Lady of Victory' because of a military victory in 1571. The unified Catholic nations of Europe we outnumbered by the invading Ottoman Empire. Pope Pius V called all Catholics to pray the rosary together on 7th October. Against all odds, the Catholic nations won the Battle of Lepanto and achieved victory over the Ottomans. In the 1960s the feast was renamed 'Our Lady of the Rosary'.

If you or someone you know needs a miracle, why not use the rosary to pray for them each day! We all face our own battles in life - where are you in need of victory?

Let us ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to bring all our needs, and especially the needs of the vulnerable and suffering to her Son as we pray the main prayers of the Rosary:

Our Father...

Hail Mary…

Glory be to the Father…

Our Lady of the Rosary: Pray for us.
