On 5th SEPTEMBER we celebrate the memorial of SAINT TERESA of KOLKATA.
Mother Teresa was finally declared a saint on 4th September 2016, 19 years after her death on 5th September 1997. She has been made a venerated Saint of Church because of two confirmed miracles believed to be achieved through her prayers since her death but she will of course be remembered most for the incredible work she did in her lifetime.
She was only 4ft 9, but wasn’t afraid to work in one of the world’s most dangerous places - the slums. She saw suffering in the world and did whatever she could to make the world a better place with the help of her sisters and brothers in the religious order she founded - the Missionaries of Charity. Below are some quotes she is known to have said, choose one to reflect on as you begin this school year:
"Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
"If you can't help a hundred people, then help just one."
"The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread."
"We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do."
Saint Mother Teresa: Pray for us.
